Bayer: Making Science Make Sense
For the past two summers, the Applied Meteorology program at West Virginia State Community and Technical College has been working with the local Bayer Crop Science: Making Science Make Sense program to provide demonstrations and experiments based on weather and climate.
For one week during the summer of 2004, the program focused on extreme weather in the Atmosphere. Some of the topics covered were Weather Safety, Weather Instrument Construction, Extreme Weather Events, and a Weather Simulator.
In the late summer of 2005, the Making Science Make Sense program focused on the interconnection of everything in a local environment from the soil to the water to the atmosphere and climate. Demonstrations were performed showing the different controls on an area's climate.
The location for the Making Science Make Sense program has been at the Shawnee Community Education Center in Dunbar, WV.
